Bookbinding Workshop with Bookbinder Francesca Scarito

This simple book binding workshop hosted by the bookbinder Francesca Scarito is a chance to rediscover and try out the glue-less book binding technique–where the book is sewn into a soft cover. This know-how is useful for a fast and resilient binding of thin books, and no heavy materials are required.

Francesca Scarito graduated in Image Art at the Erg. She is trained in decorative painting techniques - Van der Kelen Institute - and in bookbinding at the Academy of Saint-Gilles - Hugo Liesen's workshop. She shares her time as a teacher, trainer at the Atelier du livre de Mariemont, animator of workshops around books and paper, and at the workshop of the station of Watermael. Since 2007, she develops a plastic work from the fold and the paper and participates regularly in exhibitions of binding and fold since 1999.
