Queering Brussels – Guided tour with Architect Camille Kervella

Guided tour
Matrimony Days 2021
10:00-12:00 Bourse

Let’s visit Brussels and look at what makes it queer. What does the city look like for people who are still afraid to hold hands in the street? Does Brussels have a queer history? How are the balances of power related to gender, sexuality or sex built in the city? Does the city repeat domination models such as the patriarchy or heteronormative ones in its organization and user feeling? Visiting Brussels with a queer eye makes it possible to highlight the collective experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community and women*. It will also attempt to shed a different light on popular venues considered “normal” though they repeat the forms of oppression in a more subtle way. What are the indicators of the current situation of women* and queer people’s rights? Can we already celebrate it, and what is left for us to do together to achieve a more liveable city?
