Visit of the exhibition “La Vie matérielle” at the CENTRALE with the art historian Lyse Vancampenhoudt
Behind the title La vie matérielle, that of a book by Marguerite Duras, other women, other works. They are Belgian and Italian, and propose as many creations, supports, points of view as there are artists in the exhibition. But they meet where art meets life. An exhibition of women without the label. In 2021, the unisex exhibition of women artists is still a necessity, a tool to work for their visibility. Come and discover twelve artists and their works through the prism of gender, in order to question and overcome the stereotypes still too often present in the discourses built around the works of women artists.
Lyse Vancampenhoudt has a degree in Art History and Archaeology and a Master's degree in Gender Studies. Her research focuses on the representation of women* and the visibility of women artists. Her research is part of a larger reflection on cultural mediation and gender./span>
