Between us – DJ Mix initiation workshop by Rêve bleu
Women, queer people, and racialized people are still underrepresented in the music industry (both on stage and behind the scenes). These workshops are a tool for the emancipation and affirmation of your identity, wishes, and choices. It is a way to claim ownership of the stage, but first and foremost a way to ALLOW YOURSELF to claim said ownership. This workshop’s main goal is to initiate and/or continue an empowerment movement which is both personal and global. There are two parts to this workshop. Theory: introducing the equipment and various mixing notions. Practice: demonstration, listening, mix training, track research.
Sarah Abd Ali (a.k.a Rêve bleu) is a visual and sound artist who lives and works in Brussels. She likes machines, memories, and melancholic dreams. Various styles influence her music: ambient music, impressionist music, EBM, synth-pop, techno, disco, RnB... She often feels like she comes from nowhere and believes that nostalgia is timeless. She is obsessed with wave movements, on water or in the sky, and with waves in general.
