Talk
Matrimony Days 2022
15:00-17:00 Tour à Plomb (cultural room)

How did women artist reclaim ownership of textile arts, historically rooted, in numerous assignments? From Arts & Crafts to Bauhaus, to Fiber Art, to performative and relational practices, textile arts come to life in all their characteristic richness. Transgression, monumentality, flexibility, mobility, connections… all are possible approaches. The conference will be followed by a dialogue with a contemporary textile artist and a Q&A session with the audience.

Virginie Mamet is a graduate and associate in history of arts from ULB. She is an attaché to the Cultural Mediation Service of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, and independently works for various asbl and institutions in Brussels. Her research is mainly focused on the field of textile art.
