“Paye ta Truelle!” the feminist struggle in archeology
19:00-21:30
Tour à Plomb (cultural room)
In the early 2000s, US archeologist Margaret Conkey pondered the question: “has feminism changed archeology?” Twenty years of struggle later, we are clearly still waiting for structural change. Field, laboratory, museum, classroom, this concerns all learning and work environments. This conference aims to give an overview of the situation and to showcase the various actions led by the “Paye ta Truelle” collective.
Founded in 2017, Paye ta Truelle is a collective project fighting for equality and diversity in the in the French-speaking world of archeology. This fight is led on two fronts: promoting gendered archeology and raising awareness on discrimination within archeology to take it down.
